Gaelscoil Mhainistir Na Corann Cork

Tionscnamh Áit Súgradh

Ár dTioncsnamh - Áit Súgradh Nua dár Scoil

Tá Cairde i mbun ceann dá thionscadail is uaillmhianaí go dtí seo — ag bailiú airgid do áit súgartha nua do Ghaelscoil Mhainistir na Corann. Tá an tionscnamh spreagúil seo dírithe ar spás súgartha bríomhar, cuimsitheach agus tarraingteach a chruthú a thabharfaidh tairbhe do gach dalta ar feadh na mblianta amach romhainn. Ní hamháin go gcuirfidh an áit súgartha le gníomhaíocht fhisiciúil agus le súgradh samhlaíoch, ach beidh sé ina spraíúil le haghaidh comhluadar sóisialta agus folláine freisin.

Toisc gur tionscadal suntasach é seo, beidh gá le tacaíocht láidir ón bpobal, le bailiúchán cruthaitheach airgid, agus comhoibriú. Tá tábhacht mhór ag baint le gach tacaíocht, gach smaoineamh agus gach lámh chúnta agus sinne ag comhoibriú chun an fhís seo a chur i gcrích.

Why do we need a School Play Area?

To support our commitment to building a more inclusive school community, we are installing two new modular classrooms in the yard behind the school. This will allow us to support our two autism classes within the main school building, ensuring they are fully included in the heart of our school.

This project will require a large portion of our school yard to be used for the new classrooms. As a result, we will have significantly less outdoor space available for students.

Because of this reduction, having a well-designed, dedicated school play area becomes even more important.

Although this is a substantial change, we firmly believe these steps are essential to creating a supportive, inclusive, and enriching environment for all students.

What are the benefits of a play area?

A well-designed play area supports children’s physical development by encouraging active movement such as running, climbing, and jumping. These activities strengthen muscles, improve balance and coordination, and support overall cardiovascular health. Play equipment also helps build both gross and fine motor skills, while movement-based play can assist students—especially those with sensory needs—in regulating their bodies and emotions.

Play areas also provide valuable social benefits. They create opportunities for children to practise cooperation, teamwork, and turn-taking as they navigate shared equipment and group games. Students develop important communication skills while working out rules, solving small conflicts, and engaging in imaginative play. These interactions help build friendships, confidence, and a strong sense of belonging within the school community.

A purposeful play space will help ensure that all students still have access to safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate outdoor activities, even with less open yard available.

Why is fundraising necessary?

Designing and building a new play area is an ambitious and costly project. Unfortunately, the school does not have the necessary funds within its budget, nor does government funding cover projects of this kind.

Creating a high-quality, inclusive play space requires additional resources to purchase durable equipment and meet safety standards.

This is why fundraising is essential. It allows us to secure the resources needed to create a safe, inclusive, and engaging play space that meets the needs of all students. With the support of our community, we can ensure the playground is built to the standard our students deserve, providing a space that promotes physical activity, social interaction, and overall well-being.
